Simon Monjack laid to rest beside late Brittany Murphy

Troubled screenwriter Simon Monjack, husband of the late Brittany Murphy, was found dead in his Los Angeles home Monday by Brittany's mother, Sharon (said via CelebrityFix.com, May 24).

Sharon also discovered Brittany's body, whom was found dead in their home last December. The actress reportedly died from a mix of over-the-counter drugs, pneumonia symptoms and anemia. The drugs found in Murphy's system were the same drugs found near Monjack when he was discovered.

Friends and coworkers, over the years, have said that Monjack was controlling and would only let Murphy take part in certain roles. It is said that he sat back and did nothing as Murphy's weight tremendously declined. It is also reported that Murphy's friends are "glad" for Monjack's passing and, in fact, that he "helped kill" the budding actress. Tony Bertolotti, Brittany's half-brother, says that Monjack sought to keep their father's name off of her death certificate and that the screenwriter was actually "insane" (said via Nicole Lampert, DailyMail.co.uk, May 28). Of he and his father, Bertolotti says "We are sad for my sister but not for him."

Monjack was laid to rest next to wife Brittany, Thursday, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park (said via Chris Johnson, DailyMail.co.uk, May 28). A rabbi spoke at the traditionally Jewish ceremony, while a personal rendition of "Smile," Brittany on vocals and Simon on piano, played at the ceremony's end.

His official cause of death is currently under investigation.
