America's Sweetheart Dakota Fanning turns 16

From child star to TV local to A-list celebrity, Dakota Fanning has achieved a career in the entertainment industry by which many actors could dream of. Fanning is not of legal age to drink or own a gun, however, but by law, she is now eligible to drive. Born Hannah Dakota Fanning in 1994, the star whom stole our hearts in I Am Sam and Man On Fire turned 16 on February 23 and celebrated at the Villa Blanca in Beverly Hills 3 days prior (February 20).

Those in attendance included classmates of her Californian high school, a longtime private tutor and songstress Cherie Currie, whom Fanning portrays in the upcoming film The Runaways (costarring Kristen Stewart; Fanning also worked with Stewart in 2009's Twilight: New Moon and in 2010's Twilight: Eclipse), according to People.com.

The Runaways, Fanning's next film release, hits theaters March 19 and the anxiously-awaited Twilight: Eclipse hits theaters this summer.
