Pneumonia, "iron deficiency anemia" and a cocktail of over-the-counter drugs are said to have caused the untimely death of Brittany Murphy, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner and JustJared.com (February 4).
The actress went into cardiac arrest while in the shower on December 20. Husband Simon Monjack quickly alerted authorities after his mother-in-law, Sharon Murphy, found her unconscious daughter.
Murphy was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon at Cedars Sinai Hospital.
The Los Angeles County Corner ruled Murphy's death "accidental" yet preventable, as stated on JustJared.com. Murphy's use of over-the-counter drugs was due to her bout with pneumonia.
