Drake scorches the charts with "Thank Me Later" debut

Some fans are disappointed that Drake's debut album Thank Me Later sold "a mere" 463K copies in its first week. Mentor Wayne, as one may recall, sold 1M copies the week Tha Carter III was released.

Though Billboard has yet to update the charts, Drake's debut may hit the top 5 on the Billboard 200, not far behind The Blueprint 3's debut at 490K copies in its first week last year. MTV.com says Drake's album has, in fact, hit the No. 1 spot.

Here's what the tweeters had to say:
TomKillaDrake sold 462,989 copies of 'Thank Me Later' in the first week. It's not a million, but it's the highest selling album of 2010 so far. (June 22)
ProducedbyOmen: Thank Me Later # 1 in the Country !!! a proud moment for everyone involved and those who Supported from Day One. (June 23)
TheLiber8edOne: @drakkardnoir CONGRATS BIG HOMIE FOR SELLING 447,000 COPIES OF "THANK ME LATER" THE FIRST WEEK! MAJOR MOVE FOR HIP-HOP. (June 23)
robo3kDrake's 'Thank Me Later' has already reached Gold certification. Congrats to the ATF team. Not exactly Platinum, but it's on the way. (June 23)
DeandraRachelle: #nowplaying Drake's "Thank me Later"... Wow. I'm speechless. He is pretty much amazing! (June 23)

In synopsis, fans approve of the album's debut (according to my research), but Necole Bitchie found fans that think otherwise. For her analysis, click the link above or go to http://necolebitchie.com.

In other news, Drake attended an album signing at a Best Buy in New York on June 15, the day his album was released. The dominantly female crowd reportedly lined around the block for up to 16 hours to meet hip-hop's successor and were unanimously overwhelmed with emotion, which can be seen below:
