Two powerhouse females–Rihanna and Lady Gaga–and three tour de force males–Eminem, Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber–lead the 2011 Billboard Music Awards nominations, announced at a press conference in Las Vegas this morning.
Rihanna leads the pack with 18 nominations, including in the Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Female Artist, Top R&B Artist and Top Dance/Electronic Artist categories. Her collaboration with Eminem on the multi-Grammy nominated single "Love The Way You Lie" has placed her in 6 song categories. Eminem is nominated 16 times, including in the Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Artist, Top Male Artist and Top Rap Artist categories.
Lady Gaga is nominated 12 times, with three of her albums–The Fame, The Fame Monster and The Remix–competing for the coveted Top Dance/Electronic Album award.
Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber are each nominated 11 times and compete against each other in the Top New Artist and Top Male Artist categories.
