Lady Gaga reveals artwork for new single, 'Applause' (photo)


In a set of revealing tweets last night (July 28), Lady Gaga unveiled some news that is sure to get fellow Little Monsters excited!

In the first tweet, she revealed that due to popular demand, fans can now purchase her new single, "Applause," and pre-order the new album/app, "ARTPOP," on the same day, Aug. 19, on iTunes. The original date for pre-orders of "ARTPOP" and its accompanying app was scheduled for Sept. 1.

In the second tweet, she revealed a promotional image for the just released announcement:


In the third tweet, she revealed that the artwork for "Applause" would debut on Women's Wear Daily's site and in print on newsstands the following day. The photo was taken by famed photographers Inez & Vinoodh.

In the last tweet, she posted a photo of the artwork itself (which can be seen at the top of the post). 

According to MTV News, Lady Gaga will make her return to the world stage at the MTV Video Music Awards by performing the first single from "ARTPOP," which has now been revealed as "Applause." The show will air live on August 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

UPDATE: In a tweet on Wednesday, July 31, Lady Gaga tweeted the following lyrics to "Applause":

"give me that thing that I love
put your hands up make 'em touch
A-P-P-L-A-U-S-E"

She also revealed in another tweet that the ARTPOP app is free and that the album can either be purchased through the app once it is downloaded or through iTunes and Google Play music stores.

In a final tweet on that same day, Lady Gaga dropped another bombshell, stating that the single and music video for "Applause" will debut on the same day, August 19.
