'Born The Way' skyrockets to No. 1 on Billboard 200


Lady Gaga knew it would be a success, her Little Monsters knew it too and together, they have done the unthinkable.

According to Gaga Daily, Hits Daily Double and Billboard (via Nielsen SoundScan), Lady Gaga's latest LP effort, Born This Way, has snatched the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart, selling over 1.1 million units in the U.S. in its first week. This feat makes Born This Way the fastest-selling album of the year, the ninth fastest-selling album in U.S. history and the 17th album to sell one million units in a week (according to Nielsen SoundScan's sales data since 1991).

The album features Billboard's 1,000th No. 1 single, "Born This Way," the top ten single "The Edge of Glory" (peaking at No. 2), "Hair" (premiering at No. 12) and "Judas."

UPDATE: According to a new report by Gaga DailyBorn This Way has sold a whopping two million units worldwide in its first week. The album has already reached platinum status in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil and has snatched the No. 1 spot on album charts in over 13 countries.
