Smart Black People aren't "Black."

I am teased constantly (and annoyingly) because I am well spoken and because I was fortunate enough to attend well-stocked schools and because I do not dress like the "average black person," whatever that means.

I am proud of who I am and I am not afraid to show it. That just shows that my parents and guardians did a great job in raising me.

SIDE NOTE!: Thanks to @JVauBrooks for pointing this out (though this YouTube group was already known to me...hehe)!

  1. I agree with you. This happens far too often. I am currently taking Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering and I have experienced this. In my opinion, and this is not meant in a racist way, white people are responsible for this. White people placed us in a ghetto, gave us drugs, violence and low standards and made us think that all we can ever amount to is another thug on the block, and if we strive to achieve greatness, we are less black. All that we can do is ignore this. I will continue to gain knowledge and will ignore the put downs of my brothers. It is not white to want to learn, it is human to want to learn. The lord gave us this opportunity for a reason.

    Peace
