Report: Chris Brown to be featured on Rihanna's 'Birthday Cake' single

Billboard reports that the artist to be featured on the full-length version of Rihanna's anxiously anticipated single "Birthday Cake" is none other than Chris Brown. Yes, you read that right, CHRIS BROWN.

Last week, Rihanna asked her fans via Twitter whether they would mind if "Birthday Cake," a song off of her latest album, Talk That Talk, became a single and suggested that she needed "somebody #DIRRRTY on my Birthday #CAKE." Many suggestions of artists were flying around the blogosphere, but the idea of Brown being that artist probably did not cross people's minds. In February 2009, Brown severely beat then-girlfriend Rihanna nearly to the point of unconsciousness on the night before the Grammy Awards. A restraining order was placed against Brown on Rihanna's behalf and he successfully completed community service duties and other related punishments.

Billboard also reported that Brown attended Rihanna's 24th birthday party Monday night and that the two were seen to be "close" throughout the evening.

UPDATE #1: Jason Lipshutz, a member of Billboard's staff, published an open letter to Rihanna online asking that the star reconsider collaborating with her former lover. The letter can be read in its entirety HERE. Other outlets, including Spin Magazine, have also published notes online pleading with the star. To see excerpts from those notes, click HERE.

UPDATE #2: The rumors were true! Despite an urgency against doing so from both fans and critics alike, both Rihanna and Chris Brown tweeted a full-length version of Rihanna's song "Birthday Cake" Monday, February 20, which happened to be Rihanna's 24th birthday. To hear it, click HERE. The blogosphere instantly went abuzz with praises and criticisms of the duo's collaboration.

UPDATE #3: Rihanna also tweeted a remix to Chris Brown's recently released single "Turn Up the Music" featuring herself on same evening "Birthday Cake" was released by both parties. To hear the remix, click HERE.
