Penelope Cruz: Depp's love interest and archenemy in new "Pirates"

In an interview at the ShoWest festival in Las Vegas, Jerry Bruckheimer, executive producer of the upcoming "Pirates of the Caribbean" flick, told MTV News that Penelope Cruz will play the daughter of Johnny Depp's nemesis, Blackbeard, in the film (said via JustJared.com, March 20).

Bruckheimer also admitted to "a little romance between [Johnny Depp's character] Captain Jack and the character that Penelope plays."

The film does not release until May 2011, but its filming and promotion will commence as early as this June.
